Camel Ad: “The cigarette you can be fond of…”

1

This piece was found in the library/book shelf in the communication design studio of Alexandria Technical and Community College.  The ad design from 1927 displays a group of people gathered together sharing their cigarettes with one another showing how Camel is the right choice because you and your friends could've been fond of it at that time. The layout is fitting for a magazine giving a direct flow through the page. The font choices and weights seem intentional to give hierarchy to the main message and stand out next to the image portion of the page.

I think this shows a piece of our culture as, at one time, smoking was a popular and even encouraged activity. The classic and simple typography in the illustration give a sense of nostalgia.
